Methodology

Lunch prices: published lunch menus of the last 30 days, verified restaurants in Switzerland only, CHF 10 to 100. A main counts as Fried fish when our proprietary classification system unambiguously classifies it so; buffets and dishes without a real name are excluded. Each restaurant counts once, with the median of its prices for the dish; the Swiss value is the median of those restaurant values.

Cities appear from 10 restaurants, language regions from 20; the region follows the restaurant's postcode. The statistic only renders when at least 95% of the period's mains are classified; the dish itself needs at least 50 restaurants.

À-la-carte prices come from the currently published menus (mains, priced per dish, CHF). The lunch discount compares, within the same restaurant, the median card price with the median lunch price for the same dish type, and is shown from 20 such restaurants. The card price may be an evening price and the portion larger; conversely the lunch menu often includes soup or salad.
